Western New York Ultra Series

Photographs from Series Races:  Finger Lakes Fifties - July 2nd, 2005

Note:  Photos are misleading... most of the course is on single track in heavily shaded woods.  Most of my photos from the woods were too dark to publish.

Race Director Joe Reynolds briefing the field.

The Fifties field gathered for start on Potomac Road.

After the field sorts itself on the road, it's onto single track in the woods.

Approaching Picnic Area Road on some smooth trail.

Grassy trail and scenic view immediately after crossing Picnic Area Road.

Linda Brooks along grassy trail before first meadow.

First meadow, running past the radio towers.

Don't let the cows out (from the first meadow)!

Down the road... downhill is longer and steeper than it appears here.

Rick Cronise and Brian Hooker heading across the second meadow.

In the dark woods again; watch out for roots and rocks.

In the third meadow after a long run north on the Interloken Trail.

0.44 miles on the Searlesburg Road and then turn South into the woods for shade and roots.

After two miles of single track, it's out onto the pond dam and the last aid station before the finish.

Along another pond dam a bit over a mile from the finish.

A long downhill on grassy trail before the final up to the finish.

Grassy trail heading up toward the finish line.

More grassy trail up to the finish... funny how the climb gets longer and steeper every lap.

Finally, you break out into the campground and the finish is in sight.

Finally, the finish!

Rick Cronise finishes 50K.
